My real entrepreneurship story began during my second semester at the University of Florida. I decided to sign up for The Warrington Business Schools "Big Idea" competition. I did not know how big the start up community was here in Gainesville and was surprised when over 100 teams participated in this competition. Although I did not have my own team, I requested to join one. Daniel from Lazy Delivery approached me for the amazing opportunity to join his team. Lazy Delivery was a grocery delivery service that started in Gainesville and spread to Jacksonville and Orlando. I was in charge of website design and promotions for increased sales. A lot of my ideas were executed and successful. One example was to have a Valentines Day special where we would deliver Publix flowers and candy as well as anything else the client desired. Another idea I came up with was to shoot a commercial, one where I ended up directing. I was in charge of the Facebook page and the leader for any creative projects.
I learned how to do intense graphic design and direct a startup video for the company. I loved the startup community and wish to be part of it again in the near future. The connections I made with Lazy Delivery remain with me as good friends. Unfortunately, we did not win the competition but I feel that all of the experience I gained was itself a victory.
Hi Isabella,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story! It is always more helpful to see things from a "hands-on" perspective. You definitely showed the entrepreneurship spirit in that competition, even before it started. I might have given up after not having a team, but you were able to persevere through that. Also, it's awesome that they actually implemented your idea at Publix. Congrats on that! I wish you the best of luck throughout the semester and the rest of your entrepreneurial career! Here is the link to my entrepreneurship story:

Isabella, wow. That seems like an amazing experience and an awesome way to really get immersed in the entrepreneurial spirit! I think your creative ideas and initiative to get involved is something that's a trademark of an entrepreneur. It sounds like you were able to learn a lot of skills and develop a greater sense of what it would be like to run your own company. I hope that moving forward in this course you are able to challenge yourself to grow as a person and an entrepreneur.
