http://www.alligator.org/news/local/article_42dd9a7c-bb44-11e5-8aaa-2b8f4774dbac.html
This story is about how Gainesville’s Cold Night Shelter Program opened their doors to the homesless in response to the cold weather. 169 people were able to stay but it did not fit as many as they wanted to. With someone explaining it was "like a palace" for them, but only open for when the temperature drops below 45 degrees.
Problem? The cold weather is making homelessness, an already awful situtation into a worse one. People are not warm enough and have nowhere to go
Who? Homeless people, homeless shelters

  1. I really enjoyed reading your post. You read some very interesting articles. I like that you stuck to stories around Alachua county. I enjoyed your last article. Many of us do not realize how cold weather impacts the homeless community. I can't imagine not turning on my air when it's 45 degrees, let alone not having a home. 2. The first thing that I noticed was your selection of articles, and I can tell you have a particular sense of taste. The setting of your first article actually happened when I was first coming to Gainesville and I was in shock that such events actually occurred and it irked me a bit. If you get the chance, please checkout my post: http://stthach.blogspot.com/2016/01/identifying-local-opportunities.html
